Smithfield Gym

The brief from Lift, a female-focused gym in Smithfield, Dublin 7, was to create a welcoming and motivational space for their clients. Colourful gym ropes became a key element of the design, creating privacy from the street-facing shopfront, but also allowing light to filter through. A rope design was then cut into the birch ply flooring and the design is repeated on the back wall, evoking retro sportswear motifs. Plain-speaking motivational lettering decals adorn the walls, while gym equipment is stored in striking red shelving units. For this project, we commissioned Darren Blagburn to create an artistic image of Serena Williams.
