Description: three-bed CIÉ works house
Behind the traditional pointed arch and doorway to this period property lies a cheery entrance, with a statement tiled floor, and original cottage doors on either side painted in bright yellow. Hidden away in the CIÉ works estate, this three-bed house required a complete renovation – including kitchen, bathroom, electrics, replastering and finishes throughout. With the homeowner away, all work was managed remotely and seamlessly. The countryside feel of this walled estate in Dublin 8 is echoed in the country-style kitchen, complete with panelled joinery, timber worktops and a Belfast sink. Natural materials abound from the flooring, to the furniture, which are lifted with wallpaper and colour accents, while tactile lighting is made from leather and ceramics. The client wanted something “bright, colourful, and not too run-of-the-mill”, but also to retain the original charms of the house.
“Working with Emily and her team of tradespeople was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. I was living away at the time and had concerns that the renovations wouldn’t be realised on schedule and as I had envisioned, but Emily was thorough and efficient in her management and co-ordination of every detail. I had very specific design ideas and love vibrant interiors and colours, but was apprehensive about how they might work. Emily was immediately in tune with my style. She pulled everything together and crowned it with her final touches, which were very much the icing on the cake. Without her critical input, the outcome would have lacked the final magic. I cannot be grateful enough for her vision, work and commitment. Another attribute was her patience with me and the busy tradespeople. She was excellent at motivating the team and keeping everyone happy and on side – this is not to be underestimated.” – Home Owner
